Arms or Armed Body Guards: What's the Difference?

Obama enjoying the company of "armed men."
You have to wonder about the current Administration signing into law lifetime armed protection for former presidents of the USA.  (The first recipient of this will be former president George Bush.)

I suppose he needs this because he fears for his own life and/or the lives of his family members.

Its curious why the Administration would need a law like this - particularly since it offers armed protection, armed, no doubt, by the same type of weapons he and Joe Biden are working to limit and/or ban.

Interestingly enough the children of the current Administration attend a school with armed guards.

PrisonPlanet.com reports "During an ABC Nightline interview broadcast on December 26 yet recorded before the Sandy Hook shooting, Obama said one of the benefits of his re-election was the ability “to have men with guns around at all times,” in order to protect his daughters."

It also reports that "Michael Moore, another vehement proponent for gun control, also has armed bodyguards, one of whom was arrested for carrying an unlicensed weapon at New York’s JFK airport back in 2005."

I fail to see the distinction between having armed body guards versus arming one's self for the same purpose.
